Hydro Jetting
What is Hydro Jetting?
Hydro jetting is a process in which your sewer and drain lines are scoured by streams of high-pressure water shooting out of a hose at up to 4,000 psi. These high-pressure streams are strong enough to cut through roots, grease, and clear out any debris in your sewer and drain lines.
How does Hydro Jetting work?
Hydro Jetting is typically done through an opening called a cleanout, which is an accessible opening present in every plumbing system and designed to allow plumbers to easily “clean out” debris and other clogs. A Hydro Jetter consists of a large tank of water, a special high-pressure hose, a special high-strength nozzle, and a machine which pressurizes the water in the hose, so that it can spray out of the nozzle at a pressurized rate of up to 4,000 psi, and a flow rate of up to 18gpm. Every plumbing system is designed to carry waste water “downstream” using gravity. The Hydro Jetting nozzle is placed a the “downstream” end of the plumbing system and it works its way “upstream” against gravity. That way, any debris that is cleared out by the Hydro Jetter will harmlessly flow downstream where the drainage path is already clear. The Hydro Jetters used by Tillett Plumbing are capable of clearing out sewer and drain lines from 1-1/2″ to 18″ in diameter and lengths up to 700′. Tillett Plumbing has a wide variety of special nozzles for specific uses. Some special uses include root removal, sand and sludge removal, and large volume flushing. The nozzle of choice for grease lines used by Tillett Plumbing is the Warthog at 4000 psi nozzle which will emulsify the grease rather than break up the grease as lower psi jetters do.
When would I need Hydro Jetting?
Anytime there is a slow running or blockage in a sewer or drain line. Tillett Plumbing also offers maintenance contracts to prevent clogs before it would become a nuisance. Hydro Jetting could also be used to clean debris from roof drains, downspout lines and storm culverts. The Hydro Jetter can also high pressure clean tanks, manholes and cooling towers.
What are the benefits of Hydro Jetting?
Hydro Jetting can easily cut through the most stubborn roots and debris and remove built up mineral deposits and other obstructions clogging the inside of your sewer or drain lines. Although Hydro Jetting is strong enough to clear out roots from your sewer lines, any amount of root penetration is cause for serious concern. Root penetration pervasive enough to cause repeated backups indicates that the roots have gotten thick enough over time to damage the pipe and its protective waterproof inner coating. In those instances, Tillett Plumbing would make recommendations on replacing the line.
How can it be determined the Hydro Jetting worked?
Tillett Inc. can video the interior of the piping and provide the owner a tape of their system. Tillett Plumbing also includes a 30 day guarantee on all Jetter work as long as there is not a damaged pipe issue.
